Illinois Man Sentenced in Inmate Stabbing Death

A Cairo, Illinois man has been sentenced to an additional five-years in prison for the death of an inmate at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute in April of 2023.

43-year-old Otha Don Watkins the Third had earlier pleaded guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter and Possessing Contraband in Prison for stabbing and killing inmate Carlos Shelton with a shank during a fight.

Watkins was already serving a 23-year sentence for Aiding and Abetting Armed Bank Robbery, Possession of A Stolen Firearm, And Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.
