The public is invited to attend Lyles Station’s annual Juneteenth Celebration Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the historic Lyles Station School and Museum at 953 County Road 500 West in Princeton.
This annual event commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
Juneteenth marks the moment on June 19th, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the emancipation of the last remaining enslaved people, two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.
