Governor Braun’s administration is ordering state agencies to withhold five percent more of their budgets in addition to cuts that were approved by lawmakers in April.
The change is different from prior years when the Office of Management and Budget directed agencies to reserve money but also gave leaders more freedom in how to achieve the savings.
OMB director Chad Ranney says costs for major programs continue to increase at unsustainable rates.
He also says overcoming the challenges will require a renewed focus on fiscal responsibility and collective commitment to budget discipline.
