A Sullivan County Superior Court jury found 39-year-old William Grimes guilty Wednesday of the 2012 murder of 85-year-old Lowell Badger, of rural Sullivan County.
Grimes was also found guilty of Burglary and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary.
Badger, an 85-year-old retired Sullivan County farmer, was shot and killed in his home in December of 2012.
The jury also found that Grimes’ sentence will be enhanced because he used a firearm during the commission of the murder.
Sentencing for Grimes is scheduled for June 13th.
He faces 70 years in prison.
Two alleged accomplices are currently in custody awaiting trial.
Meanwhile, the Indiana State Police says Wednesday’s conviction is the result of an extensive investigation conducted by the ISP and a retired FBI Special Agent, whose persistence and dedication were crucial in solving the case.
The ISP says the detectives worked tirelessly with the Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office and Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department to gather evidence to build a solid case.
