A man is dead after a deputy-involved shooting in Danville, Indiana Monday afternoon.
Two deputies were taking inmates from a van into the Hendricks County Courthouse when a man reportedly pulled a gun and fired at least one shot in their direction.
Deputies fired back at the man and struck him- and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has been identified as 65-year-old Mark Vawter, the great-grandfather of two children who died when a police pursuit ended in a crash in February.
The suspect in that case was scheduled to be at the Hendricks County Courthouse on Monday.
