Time is running out.
Starting Wednesday, May 7th, a Real ID will be required to pass through airport security and enter federal buildings nationwide.
This new security standard, stemming from the 9/11 Commission, means your current Indiana driver’s license might not cut it anymore.
Indiana began offering Real IDs back in 2010, and over 80% of state licenses are already compliant.
To get your Real ID with a star in the upper right corner, head to your local BMV with six key documents.
You’ll need one to prove your identity, legal proof of any name, birthdate, or gender changes, and one document confirming your lawful U.S. status.
Bring your social security card or a W-2, and finally, two documents proving your Indiana residency.
Gather these six forms, visit your BMV, and secure your Real ID.
