The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a scam where callers are using the office’s phone number to impersonate two former deputies or a county judge to request money.
Do not send any money if contacted.
If you receive this type of scam call, hang up immediately and verify the request by calling the sheriff’s office directly.
Officials say you should always check the legitimacy of the request before making payments.
