The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a phone scam in which scammers posing as representatives from the Sheriff’s Office, claim there is an outstanding warrant for your arrest.
The scammers then demand payment in Bitcoin or threaten arrest.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office reminds you that it will never request payment over the phone or ask for payment in cryptocurrency.
If you receive such a call:
1. Hang up immediately.
2. Do NOT provide any personal or financial information.
3. And report the incident to law enforcement.
