A Cincinnati man is facing Operating While Intoxicated and other charges after nearly hitting a Gibson County Sheriff’s deputy head-on Thursday night while driving the wrong way on Interstate 69.
26-year-old Miguel Santiago Velasco is also charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Operator Never Licensed.
Deputies had been looking for his vehicle after receiving a report of a car striking a guardrail on I-69 and failing to stop.
A deputy later found the vehicle after receiving another report of the car driving southbound in the northbound lane.
The two vehicles nearly collided head-on.
Velasco was finally pulled over and taken into custody.
