$11 Billion Amazon Data Center Approved For New Carlisle

The St. Joseph County commission has approved an 11-billion-dollar Amazon data center that will open in New Carlisle.

The commission voted 7-to-2 in favor of the tax breaks for the facility.

Amazon will be exempt from paying 85-percent of its taxes over 35 years on data shells that will need regular replacement and is also receiving a 50-percent Property Tax Abatement over ten years along with an enterprise technology exemption.

The project will bring in 400 jobs.
