The request for a new special judge in the Delphi murders case has been denied by the Indiana Supreme Court.
The high court decided Friday that yes, Special Judge Fran Gull has missed deadlines to rule on certain motions, but because the lawyers for suspect Richard Allen continued to file motions, they essentially defeated the point of deadlines because they kept piling on the work for the judge.
Therefore, a new special judge will not be assigned, and court hearings will go on as scheduled for the end of this month.
