Man Shot by Police at Evansville Regional Airport Identified

Evansville Police have identified the man shot by officers early Saturday morning at Evansville Regional Airport as 24-year-old Pierre Robson Barthelemy.

Police were called out around 12:30 a.m. concerning a man waving a knife around near the airport terminal’s ticket counter threatening airport employees.

Barthelemy stated he was upset about his status in Evansville and wanted to go back to his country.

A police negotiator attempted to de-escalate the situation, but eventually officers were forced to shoot him when he lunged at them and less lethal methods to subdue him failed.

Barthelemy remains in the hospital.
