Republicans Advance Indiana’s Critical Race Theory Ban at Statehouse

Indiana’s de-facto ban on critical race theory in public schools is moving at the Capitol.

The House’s Education Committee has approved the plan and it now heads for a vote before the full House.

Supporters say the legislation would ban the teaching or racial stereotypes that blame certain groups for certain past injustices.

Opponents say the proposed law would silence any teaching of social justice.

The plan is one of a handful of pieces of legislation up for a vote this year that would change how teachers operate in their classrooms.
