The Owen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating two shootings, one of which proved to be fatal.
Deputies were dispatched to an address on Rattlesnake Road early Tuesday morning.
They found 58-year-old Betty Fangmeier suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and 65-year-old Robert Fangmeier Jr., unresponsive with a single gunshot wound.
Mrs. Fangmeier was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of her injuries.
Mr. Fangmeier was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mrs. Fangmeier reported that on Tuesday evening Robert shot her her in the head.
Over the course of the next several hours, she says he shot her multiple times and would not let her call for help.
She was eventually able to get a handgun when Robert left the room.
When he returned, she fired one shot at him, which proved to be fatal.
She then called 911.
At this time, no arrests have been made and detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this matter.
