IDOT Urging the Public to Get Ready For The Upcoming Winter Driving Season

The Illinois Department of Transportation is urging the public to prepare now for the upcoming winter driving season.

The “Winter Weather…Get It Together” campaign aims to make sure everyone is ready when snow and ice start covering Illinois highways.

That includes having an emergency kit in the car and taking the threat of bad roads seriously.

I-DOT Highway Maintainer Brian Mendenhall says too often, that doesn’t happen.

Drivers are asked to be extra careful on bridges and ramps which may be more prone to icing and to give snowplows plenty of room to clear the roads.
