Landlords Sue Governor Over Eviction Moratorium

Three landlords are going to court to test whether Indiana’s governor has the power to cancel evictions across the state.

Indiana’s eviction moratorium is set to expire Saturday, and it’s unclear if the governor plans to try and extend it again.

The landlords say in their lawsuit that Governor Eric Holcomb does not have the power to rewrite state law on a whim.

The governor first paused evictions back in March as people started to lose their jobs because of the coronavirus.
