Indiana State Police arrested a Washington woman for Identity Deception and Harassment Monday in connection with an investigation that began in late January.
38-year-old Rikki Lyford allegedly targeted the victim because of their support for the Washington Schools Referendum.
Police say Lyford created a Google email in the name of the victim and then used the email account to sign the victim up for numerous spam text messages.
Police say the victim received about 70 to 100 messages a day for three months.
Two other victims also received messages like these as well as false complaints made to their employers.
It’s unknown if Lyford is responsible for the actions against the two other victims.
Lyford was arrested Monday on a warrant for Identity Deception, Counterfeiting, and Harassment.
She was released from the Daviess County Security Center after posting $2,500 bond.
