Hazardous Material Spill Sends Trooper and Three Drivers to Evansville Hospital

A state trooper and three drivers were taken to a hospital as a precaution Monday morning after a chemical leak along State Road 66 in western Warrick County.

A semi tractor trailer hauling a hazardous material to the nearby Alcoa plant leaked a portion of its load onto the highway.

The chemical contaminated several vehicles.

The trooper and three drivers were decontaminated at the scene by firefighters before being taken to St. Vincent Hospital.

The semi driver wasn’t treated.

All lanes of the highway were closed until mid afternoon for cleanup work.
