Vincennes City officials feel they are near the end of the process toward certifying the City Levee on FEMA’s flood maps. Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum brought up a needed levee seepage project that could happen in the mid-summer to early fall.
Vincennes Water Utilities Kirk Bouchie says the coming project is the final brick in the wall toward levee certification.
The estimated top-end price for the project is around five million dollars. However, City officials believe there are various ways to significantly lower the price for the project. The Vincennes U-S-B will contract out the project in the months to come. The flood map survey for Knox County is expected in 2020.
