Truck Damages Historic Greene Co. Covered Bridge

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of a box truck that damaged a historic covered bridge on South Baseline Road Saturday afternoon left the scene of the accident.

However, deputies later pulled over 52-year-old Paul Patton of Bedford on East State Road 54.

The sheriff’s office says a misdemeanor charge of Failure to Stop after an Accident has been sent to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The sheriff’s department says the bridge was damaged because the truck was too tall to cross.

The Richland-Plummer Creek Bridge is 136-years-old.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993
