A new report says Indiana has the 12th highest adult obesity rate in the nation.
John Auerbach [[ hour-bach ]], CEO of the Trust for America’s Health, says many chronic illnesses are associated with obesity.
The State of Obesity report says adult obesity has risen from 13-percent in 1990 to over 33-percent this year.
Indiana also has the ninth highest obesity rate for ages ten-to-17.
The study says over eleven-percent of Hoosiers suffer from diabetes and 35-percent have hypertension.
The report projects over 240-thousand cases of obesity-related cancers in Indiana by 2030.
