Indiana Lawmakers Back Away From Unlicensed Subs

Chances are, Indiana teachers will still need a license to get into a classroom in the state.

State Senator Andy Zay says he’s stripping out a piece of his plan that would have allowed local schools across Indiana to hire teachers who didn’t yet have a teaching license.

Zay says he wanted to help end the state’s teacher shortage.

Zay says there are plenty of ways that the state’s schools can deal with their needs, without having to create a new state law or change an old one.
