Christmas, Heather

A 63-year-old Loogootee woman died Thursday night when the car she was riding in plunged into West Boggs Lake in Daviess County.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department says Joyce Christmas was pronounced dead at Daviess Community hospital.

Meanwhile, her daughter, the driver of the car, 39-year-old Heather Christmas, was arrested after being released from the hospital on preliminary charges of Involuntary Manslaughter, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Level above .15% and Operating a Vehicle While Impaired with a Controlled Substance.

She is being held without bond in the Daviess County Security Center.

Authorities say Heather Christmas was northbound on County Road 1200 East, when for an unknown reason, her vehicle left the road, struck several cable barriers and came to a rest in West Boggs Lake.
